How do we check and publish our winners?
Every win on MrRaffle is recorded against the ticket that produced it, at the moment the ticket is drawn or the jackpot round closes. Before a winner can withdraw cash, they pass identity checks. We only feature a winner by name if they have agreed to it, showing first name, last initial and town or city.
The process, step by step:
- The result is recorded. Instant win results are settled when the ticket is drawn. Jackpot winners are drawn at random from every ticket in the round when its countdown ends.
- Identity is checked. Playing and depositing do not need identity verification, but withdrawing cash does. Winners may also be asked to show that the bank account they are paid into is theirs.
- Consent is asked for. We ask winners whether they are happy to be featured. Saying no makes no difference to the prize.
- Privacy comes first. Featured winners are shown by first name, last initial and town or city. We never publish full names, addresses or anything that would let a stranger find them.
- Photos are real or absent. If a winner sends a photo and agrees to its use, we show it. If not, there is no photo. We never use stock images or AI-generated faces for winners.
UK advertising rules for prize promotions (the CAP Code) require promoters to publish or make available information showing that a valid award took place, ordinarily the surname and county of major prizewinners. Our Competition Terms explain how that information can be requested and how winners can object to being named.

Frequently asked questions
Are MrRaffle winners real people?
Yes. Every winner featured in our round-ups is a real UK player whose win is recorded against their ticket and who passed identity checks before withdrawing. We only name winners who agree to it, and we never use stock photos or AI-generated faces. The full, live list is on our winners page.
Why do you only show a first name and initial?
To protect winners' privacy. A first name, last initial and town or city shows a real person won without letting strangers find them. UK advertising rules ask promoters to publish or make available proof that a valid award took place, and our Competition Terms explain how that information can be requested.
Can I ask not to be named if I win?
Yes. Our Competition Terms ask you to email [email protected] before the closing date if you do not want your details published or used in publicity. It does not affect your prize. We may still have to share winner details with the Advertising Standards Authority if it asks, which is a legal requirement.
Are MrRaffle prizes taxed?
No. Cash prizes are paid as tax-free cash. In the UK, individuals do not pay Income Tax on prize or lottery wins, and HMRC treats winnings from lotteries and games with prizes as outside Capital Gains Tax. Any interest you later earn on money you save is taxed as normal.
How are jackpot winners chosen?
When a Daily, Weekly or Monthly jackpot round closes, one ticket is drawn at random from every ticket in that round, and each ticket has an equal chance. Paid tickets and valid free postal entries sit in the same pool. The winner is contacted using the details on their account.
